The Board of Directors has the fiduciary responsibility for Planet Ventures, a not-for-profit 5013c organization and subsequent oversight of the CEO, other executives and staff. The Board of Directors meets quarterly and participates interactively regularly via email, phone and other means.

 

The Board of Advisors and people who are willing to participate in the venture with a significant measure of their skills, talent, connections, gifts, or some other valued assets. They agree to convene at one overnight a year and meet with the CEO every year one-on-one in addition to interacting via email and phone as they have the opportunity and desire.

The Board of Advisors as of 2005 includes:

All of the parties below have been contacted and have expressed varying levels of interest in this project. The mention of their name here does not suggest anything more than a shared interest. As the corporate entity emerges the quality of the commitment of those who have helped shape this concept will be clearly defined. Jerry Rose. Chicago Christian broadcaster and founder of the Total Living Network (TLN) located in Chicago, Illinois.

David Tucker. Senior Producer of Lesea Broadcasting/ Middle East Television (METV) originally worked for Oprah Winfrey in Chicago  and currently is  the one seeking on behalf of his Directors, the best programming to reach the youth of the Middle East… for good.

Dr. Marc Gopin.  James H. Laue Professor of World Religions, Diplomacy and Conflict Resolution for George Mason University’s Institute of Conflict Analysis and Resolution. Considers this proposed TV program to be one  of the greatest opportunities for a breakthrough to peace in the Middle East.

Robert Protter. Former  executive of  TV Production company currently residing in Naperville, Illinois.

 

Champions Omni-Plex (CPX)(TOP)

Randy Pfund. Currently General Manager of the Miami Heat. Assisted Pat Riley in coaching Lakers’ teams to world championships before he became Head Coach of the Los Angeles Lakers. Randy is one of the most highly connected executives in the sports entertainment world is well liked and respected by all.

Gary DeClute. Founder of Sports Ministries Inc., (SMI) , Gary developed the organization for over 15 years  to have a far reaching impact in the lives of thousands of kids who love sports in the Chicago area . Designing and organizing clinics, tournaments and host of other creative approaches to touching the lives of kids and their parents through sports, Gary embodies the concept of allowing sports to be a tool that builds relationships that matter.  

Rick McKinley. As the Director of MAI ( Missionary Athletes International) and Head coach of the Chicago Eagles, women’s pro soccer team ,  Rick mentors and leads others to become Champions in Life.

Lou Leuzzi.  As Senior Vice President, Worldwide Sales and Marketing for Vanguard Solutions Group, Lou developed experience in start-ups, turnarounds, transitional and diversified business environments. He demonstrated a superior ability to translate visionary value-based selling strategies into bottom line results, favorably positioning his products, operations, and businesses as strong market performers.

Paul Payne. Currently Senior VP of Wachovia Securities, Paul has used his connections to help bring the CPX to fruition in myriad ways. He is a super salesman with vast connections. 

Brian Musso.  An All-American and Northwestern/ All Big Ten Conference  football star,  played in the NFL for the New York Jets before an injury sidelined him and ended his career. Brian is the one who has ‘ate, slept and drank’ the concept being developed.  His Speed and Strength performance training company in Chicago has over 1000 active participants.

Ray Austin.  All-American at U of Tennessee, and NFL player to the table to . Currently, Ray also runs Speed and Strength Programs for students all over the Chicago area with more than 1000 kids in his network.

Jeff and Heather Smith . Co-developers of a visionary Extreme Sports enterprise called Brotherhood Sports. Jeff, a former Navy Seal and current National Sales Director for a computer firm, is looking for a collaborative effort that would bring their concept of an  ‘extreme sports’ facility for the emerging youth of a local community to fruition.

Jack Vandiver.  Jack is the founder of Vandiver and Associates and has become one of the most prominent real estate businessmen in Chicago. He has been the strength coach for state championship winning sports teams throughout his multi-faceted career and brings an exemplary model of ‘mentoring kids’ to the table of every discussion.

Larry Sunderland.   Currently Director of the youth soccer program for the Chicago Power , the professional team that he captained during his professional career. He is on the US Soccer Federation’s national staff and duties include national scouting and coaching the Olympic Development Program. Larry’s experience and network are crucial in the development of this concept which he has supported from its earliest inception.

David Libby.  President of Set Free Initiatives, Dave is a prominent community activist with pervasive contacts locally and nationally in the world of LaCrosse Sports. Formerly coach at Hinsdale and St. Charles High Schools, Dave is currently the head coach of the West Chicago LaCrosse team. Dave is a mentor of many and a prime enthusiast for the pervasive development of LaCrosse as a popular sport through any and all means.

Mark Fitzgerald   An avid sports participant and coach at the junior high and high school levels, Mark Fitzgerald possesses over 22 years of solid marketing, sales and business management experience.  Fitzgerald is a 1979 graduate of St. Mary’s University in Winona, Minnesota and started his business career in Advertising and Sales Promotion.  Initially on the creative side of the business, Fitzgerald moved to account management and sales in early 1981.  In 1982 Fitzgerald joined Genigraphics Corporation (at the time a division of the General Electric Corporation) as an Account Executive where he was awarded the Rookie of the Year Sales Award.  In 1983, Fitzgerald was the youngest person ever to be promoted to Branch Manager at the company.  During his eight year career with Genigraphics Fitzgerald was promoted several times. His final position at the company was as Regional Manager of the Central Region where he was instrumental in establishing Genigraphic’s presence in the Detroit and Minneapolis marketing areas.In 1990, Fitzgerald joined Lighthouse Productions, Inc. as Vice President of Sales.  Under his direction Lighthouse grew its sales by over 200% in his first two years at the company.  In 1992, Fitzgerald was promoted to President and entered into an ownership position with the company.  In the 4 years Lighthouse was under his direction sales grew over 600% and profitability over 1000%.  In 1996, Fitzgerald and his partners sold the company to Caribiner Communications, a New York Stock Exchange company.  Today, Mr. Fitzgerald holds a Senior Management position with the Caprel Computer Services, an IT Consulting Firm in Oak Brook, IL.  Fitzgerald and his wife of 21 years live in Winfield Illinois with their three children

David Partain. David Partain is a seasoned marketing executive with over 15 years experience in the financial services industry with stints in marketing with Morgan Stanley and executive leadership and management with UBS Warburg in Chicago. Upon leaving Nike Securities L.P. in 2000 he received funding to start up an Internet venture called InvestorJoe.com, Inc.

He took a significant change in career direction in 2002 when he accepted the position of Director of Ministry for the Chicago-based Christian television network—Total Living Network. David’s responsibilities include developing a network of churches and parachurch organizations to help them extend their ministries through television. He also is responsible for the volunteer support that offers prayer through a dedicated prayer telephone line.

Having coached youth soccer and basketball for the last 10 years, David strongly believes in the impact that sports ministry can play in both the current and eternal life of today’s youth. He is a graduate of Wheaton College with a B.A. in Communications & Business, and has completed coursework in strategic planning, project management, and entrepreneurship. He has served on the boards of the Wheaton Christian Grammar School as secretary for 3 years and on the Illinois Family Institute for 5 years.

David and Wendy are blessed with five children. They currently reside in the Wheaton, Illinois area.

Marcy Turnquist. Marcy Turnquist has over fifteen years experience in the accounting and human resource areas.  She was one of the start up managers that help develop the Rush Copley Healthplex Fitness Center.  Rush Copley Healthplex is a medical based fitness center offering 165,000 square feet of fitness activities.  Marcy brings the experience in developing a facility including marketing and sales, programming, staffing and management.

John Voosen. Currently senior architect at Church Building Consultants (CBC) in the Chicago area, John Voosen’s family has been creating architecture for more than 100 years. With degrees from Harvard University’s College and their Graduate School of Design, he has served the leaders of commerce, industry, institutions, housing, and religion for more than 34 years. Eight years ago, John made a decision to concentrate on sacred spaces and structures that serve committed communities. His worship spaces alone seat more than 60,000 people each weekend.

John brings extraordinary expertise in using the rich multi-media tools of digital technology, especially 3D, animation, color, video, and audio. He is convinced that these tools have put us on the threshold of a being able to create a new, powerful, democratic architecture, rooted in collaborative creation among users, owners, designers, engineers, and builders. These exciting new tools enable his clients to participate in a close, informed dialogue throughout the building process.  Communicating information, excitement and energy is the key to building a team that works effectively together. These tools also help the entire community explore alternatives, develop commitment and ownership, secure fundraising, and gain regulatory approval.  

John is a respected church architect and liturgical designer, having designed scores of churches during his distinguished career. His works have been published in many books and periodicals. He has written numerous articles, lectured at Chicago area universities, and received awards for his works.

Christopher J. Warden. Telecom Services- Vice president of sales 12 years. Chris was responsible for interviewing, hiring, and training upper sales management for 130 offices nationwide. He instituted and developed training manuals for the company. He was responsible for reporting demographic studies and cost and expenditure evaluations on a nationwide bases to the president of the company. He was the youngest VP in the history of the company and during his tenure with the company he was directly responsible for taking sales from 10 million to 55 million in 5 years.   Venter Corporation -venture capital 8 years President. Chris was responsible for raising capital for public and private companies and evaluating investment opportunities for fund presentation. Assisting companies in structuring business plans for potential board room presentations. In his 8 years he raised over 16 million dollars for private and public companies. His company also provided stock support for public companies through dissemination of data via the internet to a data base of three million member equity investors on our web site. Chris brings exceptional talent to the Planet Ventures team that will skillfully  assist in the development of the company from the infantile stage to the presentation stage of the proposed plan.

Art Velasquez.  Regional Operator of Baja Fresh in greater Chicago area. Art was one of the original founders of the legendary ‘Taste of Chicago’ and brings top of the line expertise to the development of the South of the Border Fiesta as a community event.

Chris Ellerman.  For over 25 years, Chris Ellerman has led one of the most effective community services organization in the US called ‘Outreach Community Ministries’. He and his organization is collaborating with Planet Ventures  on the South of the Border Fiesta in order to build a bridge to  a pervasive impact on the Latino community by providing a ‘Neighborhood Resource Center’ that could help Latinos in our community in a huge way.

John Fornelli. John is a prominent community activist who is involved locally and globally in the lives of countless Latinos. It was John’s initial leadership that ignited the South of the Border Fiesta in the early stages and continues to sustain its impact through his cooperative contribution during the year.

Brian Wittenberg. Brian is a businessman who moonlights as one of the premiere concert promoters around. He will lead the program element of up and coming South of the Border Fiestas in the near future.

Carlos Guadagno. Founding pastor of Corona De Amor in Palatine, Carlos is a up and coming leader in the Latino community and an effective communicator of inspiring ideas.

Ricardo Palmerin.  Senior Pastor of the Bensenville Bible Church / Hispanic
