‘Bridges’ or ‘The Word on the Street’
Problem: The youth population explosion from Morroco to Tehran is the greatest on planet earth. The education of this youth segment is greatly influenced, in part, by madrassas (Islamic schools largely funded by Saudi Arabia and those associated with Wahhabism, a virulent form of Islam, that spawned Al Qaeda and other terrorist cells that continue to mutate and multiply throughout the world). This virulent  sociological phenomenon is more dangerous than any WMD (Weapons of Mass Destruction )which causes a growing stagnation of hope and an accumulative pollution of the soul in local communities throughout the Middle East and in population segments within the U.S. The result is a cancerous epidemic of hatred towards the U.S. and the Western World. This fiery hatred is fanned into a blue flame by Al Jazeehra (the prominent Arab satellite television station that inflames passions while providing few  inspirational/creative  solutions to the problems locally and globally). The result could be the spreading of the terrorist insanity to the border of the U.S. in Canada and Mexico and even infiltration into the urban environment where minority youth share a hatred for the white man (Western European immigrants) and his dominance in the world.Simultaneously, there is a growing reaction to the U.S. in the perception by the Arab world and much of Europe that the U.S. is in on a moral crusade that seeks to dominate the world for its own self-interest and for the unaccountable self-interest of its allies in the Middle East with various impure motives being impugned to them; some legitimate and some illegitimate.  In Saudi Arabia and even Afghanistan, for control of the oil markets; and in Israel and the Middle East, as a puppet for Israeli interests without the backbone to confront Israeli about its ‘state terrorism’.  Even the attempt to publicly state the position of both sides that exists anywhere from the center common ground to polarized radical ends of the continuum creates vitriolic reactions on both sides .This can lead to danger for those wise voices ‘crying in the streets’ and in ‘the wilderness’ who are willing to dialogue in the community in order to make incremental breakthroughs through ‘gestures of empathy’ and iconoclastic breakthroughs of the order of Sadat and Rabin.

Vision: To gather business and community leaders to discover innovative education and communications strategies that can change the planet for the greatest good

Mission: To create a high impact TV program targeted to cosmopolitan youth and their families in the Middle East and in targeted areas particularly concerned about the situation in the Middle East in order to influence them for good.

Strategy :

  • Develop proposal and pursue alliances for collaboration
  • Go to Middle East and present proposal to Key Israeli and Palestinian leaders and to prime the communication in order to receive their endorsements
  • Present proposal to U.S. leaders through strategic network
  • Confirm $280,000  for 4 pilots
  • Bring together Creative Team and Produce Pilots / September-December 2004
  • Set DVD presentation for presentation for future capital investment of project with major investors like GE, Pepsi and McDonald’s
  • Connect with other Israeli and Palestinian leaders in Chicago to secure contacts for youth forum and increased not for profit funding if needed.
  • Present to colleges in Chicago area for participation and increased  Promotion and Marketing
  • Plan ‘Jerusalem Summit @ Chicago’ for 2005 for grass-roots marketing.

Potential Solution:A cleaned-up MTV style of youth program that initially convenes the youth of Chicago (high school and college age youth) to gather for one Monday a month to do 4  programs a month that will be aired weekly to more than 73 million Semite homes through METV/Lesea Broadcasting in association with other collaborators.  The forum of youth will gather to engage the top political, professional, business and community leaders in the U.S. and all over the globe concerning global and ultimate issues that confront all of us ‘highly effective leaders’ who are keeping  ‘the end in mind’.  The program will consists of many creative approaches that will educate, inspire and lessen the tensions so that there is minimal heat and maximum light in the dialogue that currently exists and develops into the future.

Pilot Proposal:

A 60 minute weekly  series that will educate, inspire and motivate young people to address , confront and participate in the pressing global issues that challenge the survival of the planet.  The format consists of creative approaches to studio interviews with global and local leaders and the people whose lives their decisions affect. The objective of the series is to build Bridges of hope through a process of conflict examination.  A typical episode might feature a general in the Israeli Army talking about his family’s experiences in the Middle East conflict, followed by his Palestinian counterpart telling of a personal family experience, with the third segment of an interview with the son of one of the guests, closing with a segment that brings together at least two of the opposing guests in a roundtable dialogue. The following ingredients could and would be included:

1. Special Guests from the Popular World who will perform and weigh in on global issues with concrete solutions proposed

  • Music/ Nick and Jessica (Simpson) do a duet and are interviewed and weigh in with their perspectives and insights about sex, marriage, and the future of planet earth
  • TV and Movies/ Mel Gibson appears with excerpts from the Passion of the Christ and tells about the tragic disfigurement of his face that was healed by a compassionate priest and a talented plastic surgeon. An exclusive story that Mel has not talked about openly , etc.
  • Sports/ George Foreman comes and cooks us up some hamburgers, reviews some old clips from his fights with Muhammed Ali who surprisingly shows up on stage at the end of a clip and the two friends talk about common ground in the Koran and the Bible to establish an attitude of doing the common good for each other.
  • Business/ Jack Welch ,Dennis Bakke and Joe Ritchie  are interviewed to talk about their experience on how business can be used to bless the world ‘beyond all borders’  in the Third Millenium.
  • Political/ Colin Powell comes and sets the record straight with regard to how the instruments of war and peace work together for the common good.

2. Special Educational Video/ BookorPublication is created or presented (aired) that educates the cosmopolitan youth to discover for themselves the truth about things through downloading of internet videos, books and publications for a registration fee of $5 (?)  a month with opportunities for Islamic, Jewish and Christian organization to create sponsorships for free membership through donation. < Like Oprah’s Book Club meets Amazon.Com and Napster , only Legal>

3. Special Community Interest/Activist segment that features the stories of local and global people from diverse backgrounds who are presented as separate and isolated at first but are moved to a moral high ground based on the common ground of our common humanity. The listening, the empathy, and the resultant acts of identification, reconciliation and potential restoration will give the opportunity to present the proverbial ‘olive branch’ learned by the trust building practices of the ‘peacemaking’ movement in Israel, Palestine and around the world without disparaging the sacrificial and courageous acts of leaders in the government, military, business, and community leadership, both locally  and nationally . < This segment will constitute the main body of the program and will take 20 minutes to cover from start to finish for each ‘vignette’ of conflict/reconciliation>.

4. Special historical segment that weekly reviews aspects of historythat present past events and current positions fairly to dismantle the atmosphere of diatribe and create conditions for an atmosphere of dialogue and enlightenment for the common good.

5. Interactive forum with youth engaging the visiting leaders, in person, or on interactive satellite connections

6. A series of wrap ups from the Jewish, Christian, Arab and other Eastern viewpointsthat focus on moral persuasions from the word of revelation that espouse love, peace and hope for all men

7. Collaborate to create a Middle Easter action hero or heroes for communicating Life  values to the youth of the  Middle East
