| John
Henderson is best known as the founder of an innovative youth ministry
out of YFC/Chicago called Salt Co. whose example and leadership were
instrumental in developing the world’s largest student leadership
conference in America called DC/LA. In 1985, he became the founding
pastor of Ginger Creek Community Church in the western suburbs of Chicago,
Illinois. It grew to become one of the most innovative and successful
churches in the Chicago area.
Officially, in 2003, John was called to another assignment – to develop an ‘outside the box’ enterprise called ‘Planet Ventures’ through which ordinary people generate, initiate and implement ideas that could have extraordinary impact on the Planet… for Good. This mission is directed at the local and global community simultaneously and finds ‘common ground’ to build relational bridges with people from all religions and nations. Through specific innovative and local initiatives, ordinary people and their community leaders can make a world-class impact on planet earth. To devote the time required to this new venture, John left Ginger Creek Community Church while retaining the title of Founding Pastor Emeritus. He continues to maintain close ties to Ginger Creek, as he reaches out to the global community of people of all faiths and governments striving to discover innovative ways to nurture and sustain peace, friendship, and mutual respect on earth in order to find God’s purpose for all. John has gathered several key people to guide and contribute to this venture. |
